Education   

  • High School Studies at St. Xavier's High School, Manickpur, Vasai Rd.
  • Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in History and Economics from the University of  Bombay  (1982).
  • Seminary Studies at St. Pius X College, Goregaon, Bombay (1983 to 1990). Three years of Psycho Spirituality and Philosophy, one year of regency at Our Lady of Grace Church, Papdy-Bassein,three years of Theology.
  • He did his studies in Community based Development and Leadership from St. Francis Xavier University,[ Coady Institute ] in Canada - Nova Scotia.[Presented his paper on 4H Education] 
  • He completed a course in Counseling in 1986 from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai.
  • He also completed a six month course in School Administration (1986).                         
  • He has done short courses in Youth Coordination and Leadership from Ishvani Kendra, Pune;  a Basic Legal Aid course  from Indian Social Institute,  New Delhi and a New Directors Training for Diocesan Social Service Society Directors from Caritas India,  New Delhi.


 

Priestly Ordination :   1st  April 1990 in Vasai for the Archdiocese of Bombay.

Publications :


    He compiled the "Antar Bharti Geetmala" (In Seven Languages) Hymnal for Raigad Dist. He was the editor of the News Bulletin "CSA Impact", a Bulletin of the Archdiocese of Bombay from 2009. He has also written some articles in this bulletin. He has also written articles in “The Examiner”. He also wrote articles in Marathi in the Parish Bulletin and the Youth Bulletin  when he served  as a Priest.

 

Socio – Pastoral Ministry :

    • He has a great missionary zeal.  In all his programmes, he promotes the  social teachings of the Church.  He is ready to take on difficult and challenging tasks.
    • He has pioneered many projects of the Archdiocese of Bombay. Whenever a task is given to him, one can be sure that he will complete it well.   Due to his close involvement with the activities of the Centre for Social Action, as the Director  he has been held in high public esteem by so many people from all walks of life.  He has great concern for the underprivileged and the marginalized.    
    • When he was the Priest In- Charge of the Sacred Heart Church, Roha, he was the main person instrumental in the building of the Church which was inaugurated by Cardinal Ivan Dias.   
    • He had started the Parish Youth Movement (PYM) in St. Thomas Church, Sandor, Vasai in 1993. He also wrote in the youth bulletin of St. Thomas Church many articles for the youth.
      He was the main coordinator for the education programme in the mission of  Raigad District (for  five years).
    • He was directly involved in providing supplementary education for the poor tribal children (Kathkaris) and the empowerment of the tribals themselves. He has done this in 150 villages in Raigad District. Here, he has also provided regular Teachers Training and Animators Training.  He has  done this in collaboration with 17 Religious Congregations.  
    •  He has very good  relations with civic authorities.  In fact he obtained the permission  from the State Government and the Municipal Corporation to get the transfer of land from Industrial to Residential zones to St. Francis Xavier Church at Panvel (of the Archdiocese of Bombay). It was not an easy permission to get, but he got it. 
    • He coordinated a project in Dharavi (Uttan-Gorai ) Island with the fisher folk community. Here he conducted a systematic study of the area and he led the people of the area to prepare a Perspective Plan for their Social Development.  
    •  He also worked to get land for the Kathkari tribals W.R.T. their Right to Forest Land. He Helped in the implementation of the Annapurna Scheme (10 government schemes for the poor) related to their right to food, such as obtaining ration cards for the poor.

     

     

    Episcopal Appointment :


    •             He was appointed as a Bishop Of Amravati by His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI on 11th July 2012.
    •             He was consecrated as Bishop of Amravati on 29th Sept. 2012.

    •         Bishop was designated as the Archbishop of Nagpur on 3rd December 2018 and installed as the Metropolitan Archbishop of Nagpur on 27th January 2019

     

     

    Episcopal Ministry :


    •             He has been In Charge of Catholic Education in Western Region Catholic Bishop
                  Council.(Maharashtra, Gujrat, Goa)
    •             He was a main instrument in forming Western Region Catholic Foundation For
                  Education ( WRCFE ) as Registered Company under Companies Act 2013.
    •             He is promoter of “ Education to Family Values” online programme for Western
                  Region Catholic Schools.
